Carlos may not take Hogg risk

HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Carlos Corberan insists he has a number of players ready to step in should Jonathan Hogg miss out at the weekend.

Town face a daunting trip to Championship leaders Bournemouth on Saturday.

Hogg is a doubt after he was take off in the win over Sheffield Wednesday with an injury.

“He started to feel some strange feelings in the hip,” explained Corberan. “He’s a player with a lot of experience who knows in which moment to stop to not create any injury.

“I don’t think he is going to take a lot of time to recover.”

Corberan, however, will be wary of the intense schedule Town face over the coming weeks. To that end he may choose to rest Hogg for the game against the Cherries.

If that is the case then he believes he has ample alternatives that can deputise in Hogg’s absence including Alex Vallejo, who made his long-awaited debut with a cameo off the bench against Wednesday.

When asked whether the Spaniard could come in as a direct replacement for Hogg, Corberan said: “He (Vallejo) is a player who has played all his career in this position.

“At the same time Carel Eiting has played this position too, so we have different players to play in this position.

“We need to see what the best alternative is. In some games we need to rotate the players. We cannot be thinking that we can only play with 11 players.

“It’s positive that Eiting and Lewis O’Brien, can both play in this position too, and at the same time Vallejo can too.”

ISAAC Mbenza has revealed he thought his time at Huddersfield Town was over when he was loaned out last season.
