JACKIE ADMITS SHE WAS ‘EATING HERSELF TO DEATH’ BEFORE HUSBAND HELPED HER LOSE WEIGHT
SUPER-SLIMMER Jackie Parker has lost an incredible 11 stone after her husband Mick encouraged her to change her ways.
Jackie, 57, says she was “eating myself death” and it took a gentle comment of encouragement from her husband to join Slimming World and cut down on her food intake.
It has taken her five years to go from more than 27st to just over 16st – and she hopes to lose another 4st.
The couple, who live on Leeds Road, Huddersfield, joined the Slimming World group and lost weight together. Mick lost around 3st.
Five years ago, Jackie was unable to walk more than a few feet without becoming exhausted and would fall asleep after short amounts of activity.
Now she rises early each morning and meets a friend for a game of basketball on a nearby open-air facility where they can also use the various keep-fit machines – all for free.
She has porridge and fruit for breakfast, soup and chicken for lunch, and healthy meals such as stir-fries for dinner.
Jackie, a former employee at UK Superbowl on Leeds Road, said: “It has been a long journey and I have still got a bit to do, but it is a marathon and not a sprint.”
She used to tuck into endless familysized bags of crisps and also knock back lots of sugary alcopops – plus chocolate and takeaways.
Now she enjoys homemade curries and the occasional vodka and soda.
Jackie admitted that her husband Mick hadn’t known how heavy she was back in 2015.
She said: “My husband never knew that – he does now. I have just gone a bit red.”
These days she feels on top of the world and is in good health.
She said: “I feel one million per cent better. I feel brilliant.”
Mick added: “She looks amazing. We can do things that we couldn’t do before, like holidays.”
Jackie says she can now walk for miles and can even run up the stairs.
Her Slimming World consultant Angela Hnatkiwskyj said: “Jackie is now one of the most outgoing and bubbly members of the group. She always has a smile for every member and new member and is now an active member of the social team.
“She offers support and encouragement to everyone as well as hints and tips about the plan.”
