Incompetent leader has no thought of welfare

-

IN 1946 / 47 the Second World War ended and many, many families all over the world were reunited with their loved ones.

Having been apart, in some cases, for many years when they fell into each others arms, nature took its course and within a few short years the world population increased.

Man is said to live “Three score years and Ten” roughly 70 years, which now brings us roughly up to date, give or take a year or two.

Many of us have been lucky enough to exceed the time allocated to us, and the families we started have grown up and now have families of their own.

During the course of growing up, most of us learnt what has become known as “common sense”.

Unfortunately the “common sense” we developed has not passed on to all of the next generation and some have become what they call “politicians”.

We, (the generation who brought you into this world), would like to get on with our lives in our declining years, see our children and grandchildren grow up, socialise when, and where we want, be it pubs, restaurants, holidays, clubs (of all kinds), sporting venues, cinemas, theatres etc etc.

So get off your high horses and let people use their “common sense” and get some normality back into our lives.

SO this is Christmas. UNICEF is making payments towards food parcels for children in the UK. Dolly Parton is buying books for children in Bradford. Food Banks are overwhelmed by families with no other appropriate means of survival. Yet this is in the SIXTH richest country in the world! It really shouldn’t be like this. I mean we haven’t even left the EU yet.

Numbers of people who have died from Covid 19 will top 70,000 by Christmas despite Johnson’s government fiddling the figures and the excess deaths total is over 80,000. Gavin Williamson announces that secondary school children will be tested at the beginning of next term despite the tests needing 40,000 people to administer them. He hadn’t thought of that so in response to questions asking for detail he announces that if schools can’t meet this requirement they needn’t bother!

A third wave is almost certain and so more people will die. Don’t forget Johnson’s ridiculous bumbling claim in

June that we would all be back to normal by Christmas!!

How in the name of Heaven have we come to this? The answer is really quite simple.

We’ve the most incompetent government in the world, led by the least competent PM in history who thinks more about his hair and enriching his friends than he does about the welfare of the people of the UK.

What have we done???

Outcome that was worth the haggle

A LONG time ago whilst on holiday in Turkey I decided to buy a watch.

My much-travelled workmates had instilled in me that I must haggle, this was expected and enjoyed by the vendor.

I found one that I liked and was giving it some thought when a nice, very humorous young man said: ‘‘you must have this watch to you £25 – I laughed and said ‘no way – remembering my friends advice he immediately said £20, I walked away.

He followed saying £15, and also asked me what I would pay, I was now feeling quite at ease with him as we both laughed and exchanged banter. I said just off the top of my head £7 only – he then looked at me quite seriously and said “this is wonderful watch’,’ “this is GUCCI WATCH.’’

I said as if awestruck “GUCCI WATCH?... me really ELIZABETH TAYLOR’.’

With this he put the watch in my hand, kissed me on both cheeks and said ‘madam, this is you watch for £7.

We left him laughing his head off.

What a lovely holiday, also the watch lasted until I was fed up with it.
