Danny boy can’t wait to get going

NEW Huddersfield Town signing Danny Grant cannot wait to get started at his new club and show fans what he is all about.

The step up from the League of Ireland is likely to be a challenging transition but Grant is looking forward to learning from Carlos Corberan and his coaching staff and pushing for a first-team place.

Grant’s deal with Irish side Bohemians had come to an end, and he has now put pen to paper on a twoand-a-half year deal with the Terriers that starts on January 2 and ties him to the club until the summer of 2023 with the option of a further year.

The forward’s ability to play anywhere across the front line will have made him an especially attractive prospect to the Terriers, who were short on attacking options even before Josh Koroma’s long-term injury.

Asked which role he prefers, Grant told the club’s YouTube channel: “I like to play on the left.

“I played through U17s and U19s as a centre forward and then went out wide when I got into the senior set-up at Bohs.

“I think that’s what I’m best at probably, dribbling, cutting inside. I can go on the outside, I like to be in one-v-one situations – most wingers do.

“Hopefully I can bring goals too because I did that last year.”

Asked what he knew of Town’s style under Corberan, Grant said: “I’ve watched a couple of games recently because I had a feeling I was going to be coming here.

“The style of play is obviously a big thing. I’m only here a couple of days and it’s massive already, it’s instilled into the players that style of football, so I’m really looking to get going and learn that style as well. I think obviously the coaching staff is of a really, really high calibre. To get better you need to work with the best people and the coaches here are really good. I look forward to it.”
