Corberan is keeping his goalie options at Town open

-

Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan says he is comfortable with his choice whoever he decides to play in goal.

Schofield has kept back-to-back clean sheets in Hamer’s absence against Coventry and in a stellar performance against the Hornets, but Hamer had done likewise the previous week against Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday.

With Manchester United loanee Joel Pereira also at the club, Corberan believes it is one of the strongest positions in his squad.

Corberan said of Schofield: “I cannot say that he wasn’t the firstchoice keeper because, for me, I always say the three keepers we have need to be ready to be the first keeper.

“We know he was injured at the beginning of pre-season, so we couldn’t analyse him well, but at the club there was a lot of confidence in Schofield.

“We signed Joel to replace him when he lost three months from the beginning of the season, that’s why he couldn’t show what skills he had at that moment when he wasn’t working with the team.

“I would say that every keeper needs to be ready at any moment of the season. For me, this position is a little bit special because when you lose your first keeper the player who replaces him needs to have the same condition, the same concentration, the same answers as the first keeper.

“But for me I have the possibility to work with three very good goalkeepers and that’s always very comfortable for a coach because any decision you make is the right decision.”

Corberan had spoken about Schofield’s first-team prospects even before his excellent outing against Watford.
