Shelley move top as league hit by call-offs

COVID AND WEATHER HIT FIXTURE PROGRAMME AGAIN

THE Huddersfie­ld and District AFL fixtures were again disrupted by cancellati­ons due to Covid-19 and the weather.

In Division 1, the only game played saw Slaithwait­e United comfortabl­y beat Shepley 4-0 with goals from Beardsall (2), Bower and Allen.

Shelley went top of Division 2 beating Lepton Highlander­s 2-1 while Dalton Dynamos went second by overcoming AFC Lindley 3-1.

Kirkheaton Rovers with goals from Askin, Longley, O’Connor and Goddard (3) saw off bottom club Almondbury Woolpack 6-4.

Holme Valley Academical­s lost 4-1 to Cumberwort­h.

Laund Hill went top of Division 3, beating bottom club Hade Edge 4-1, while AFC Dalton lost 4-1 to Deighton whose scorers were Cardie and Rowe (3).

Meltham moved off the bottom of the division with a 5-3 triumph over Brook Motors with goals from Lawrie, Whiteley and Foster (3), with Lodge (2) and Hird scoring for Brooks.

Cartworth Moor went joint top of Division 4 with goals from Boyle and Dyson in a 2-1 win over Mount, Heppenstal­l scoring from Mount.

In the reserves section, Netherton beat neighbours Berry Brow 5-1 to go third in Division 1 with goals from O’Connor (2), Burchill, Evans and Simmonds.

Dalton Dynamos beat Britannia Sports 4-2 and Shelley climbed off the bottom by beating AFC Dalton 5-3, Shelley’s goals coming from Whitfield, Yarwood (2) and Wilkinson (2).

Scholes stay top of Reserve Division 2, beating Scissett 4-0, and Cumberwort­h went second with goals from Gower and McKinley in a 2-1 win over AFC Lindley. A Walsh hat-trick and goals from Goodwin and Parr saw Holmbridge climb to third in a 5-4 win over Meltham, whose goals came from Tindall, Waddington, Holt and Horier.

Almondbury Woolpack, with goals from Clarke and Reid (2), beat Holme Valley Academical­s 3-2. Britannia Sports played out a 5-5 draw with Honley, whose goals came from Foster, Lee (2), Payne and Willetts, while Brook Motors lost to Junction 5-3. Junction’s goals coming from Inman (2), Robertson (2) and Neary.

Scholes A stay top of Reserve Division 3 beating Slaithwait­e 8-2, while Kirkburton moved up to second beating third-placed Linthwaite A by a solitary goal.

An own goal and a hat-trick from Lister were just enough for Cumberwort­h A to edge past Hade Edge 4-3, whose scorers were Hallas (2) and Sturgess.

In Reserve Division 4 Berry Brow B stay top with goals from Chingombe (3), Weaver (3), McLoughlin and Morgan in their 8-0 win over Hade Edge A.

Goals from Burnet, Lockwood and Drake sent Mount up to second in their 4-0 victory over Scissett Developmen­t. Hepworth moved up to third beating Flockton 4-1 while Cartworth Moor moved up to fourth beating Brook Motors Developmen­t 4-1 with a brace each for Armitage and Worrall.
