Jigsaw shop is enterprising

-

ITALKED about the attractions of jigsaw puzzles in lockdown. The hobby has a diverse fan base from grandads to Rolling Stone Ronnie

Wood.

Sorry, Ronnie Wood is a grandad. Exponents, including Bill Gates, Fatboy Slim and our own Sir Patrick Stewart, praise them for the stimulation and relaxation they provide.

Which is why Veronica Colbeck got in touch about the Charity Jigsaw Festival at St Martin’s Church in Brighouse that is usually held on the weekend of August Bank Holiday.

Completed jigsaws are put on boards and given to the church and displayed for sale. The money goes to local disadvantaged children.

Covid cancelled the event last year so the enterprising organisers launched an online Jigsaw Shop which has so far sold 845 jigsaws and raised an amazing £8,500 for charity.

Jigsaws are donated and assembled by members of the local community to ensure they are complete, then broken down, re-bagged and re-boxed.

New jigsaws are also donated and offered for sale.

Volunteers deliver to HD6 and adjacent postcodes, otherwise they are sent by Royal Mail or courier. They also collect donated jigsaws to be added to the website.

Check out the web page at www. brighouse.org.uk/jigsaws/ or by Googling (as I did) Brighouse jigsaws: “Where you will find a fantastic selection of jigsaws without the need to queue, socially distance or wear a face covering.”

Puzzles for children and grown-ups and nostalgic classics such as A Ride With Mum. Prices start at £4.
