A SEVERELY depressed woman who “broke every bone in her body” when she fell from Sainsbury’s car park in Huddersfield more than two years ago has spoken of her struggles.

Pat Bottom, 48, of Blackmoorfoot Road, Crosland Moor, tried to take her own life on November 25, 2018, after the stress of caring for her father Donald Bottom got too much.

She spent almost a year in Leeds General Infirmary and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as medics tried their best to repair her shattered limbs.

She has come forward to highlight her plight after becoming upset about her treatment while driving her mobility scooter.

Pat said: “I broke almost every bone in my body and suffered some brain damage too.

“I don’t remember doing it, all I can remember is waking up in Leeds General Infirmary and wondering what I had done.

“Afterwards, I think it was being my dad’s carer that did it, I think that’s what it was.

“I have had quite a few operations and it’s still ongoing at the moment. I wish I had not done it, the doctors did a lot to save my life.

“But I am in constant pain all the time. I do get a bit of quality time but not that much.

“I enjoy feeding the ducks at Greenhead Park and I’ve got an African grey rescue parrot called Coco who keeps my spirits up and a friend called Carol is very good to me too.

“My right leg and arms are the worst affected and the brain damage means I can be quite forgetful.

“My brother David who lives in Oakes has been a great help. I don’t know what I would have done without my brother. He can’t understand why I did it.
