Tories are dragging UK’s reputation through mud

-

WHAT have the Conservatives done to us? Following Johnson’s latest photo call where he was basking in the reflected triumph of the NHS success in vaccinating the population I was reminded of a greedy and demanding child.

The world’s poorest nations struggle to obtain enough vaccine while “global” Britain’s ridiculous Prime Minister clutches in his pudgy fingers enough to vaccinate the entire population of the UK FOUR TIMES over.

Yes, he promises to donate some to poorer nations but he seems to have forgotten that in a pandemic no one is safe until everyone is safe! This is especially relevant to the UK as our shambolic Government struggle to reduce international entries to the UK.

Don’t forget, as the Tories have, their manifesto commitment to spend 0.7% of GDP on foreign aid. Quite how they can square this with the halving of aid to Yemen I don’t know. It might involve another lie I suppose! Someone will believe it. While they are doing this they continue to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia which they use to kill Yemeni children.

Johnson and his Tory friends continue to trash what remains of our international reputation while claiming to do all this in our name. Not mine thanks very much.

We all know by now, I think, that the Tories have become the Brexit Party, or is it the BNP? I’m never sure as they seem to change their philosophy with their socks.

The thing is that with Bojo in charge, the Tories’ Brexit agreement seems to have thrown farmers, fishermen, hauliers and students under the proverbial bus. I have some sympathy with the latter but not the first two as they believed the Brexit propaganda.

Still at least Boris might get his Downing Street flat decorated now. He is apparently setting up a charity to attract funding from Tory donors for this purpose. I suppose they might cough up. He has done lots for them, hasn’t he? Remember he said that he struggled to pay for child care last year? As a journalist he was earning £240,000 a year! What a man!

He has no idea about the real value of things but while so ever his apologists refuse to hold him to account he will continue to trash this country’s values and reputation.

Sunak’s pension raid

OUR Chancellor is to freeze the income tax threshold, which means an increasing proportion of my works pension that I saved into for my retirement will go to wealthy business people.

Take from those who can least afford it and give to those who least need it, the epitome of pure Toryism.

A lovely, talented man

I TOTALLY agree with Harvey Leatham (Feedback, March 4) – The Joy Of Painting, half an hour of relaxing TV.

What a lovely, talented man Bob Ross was. Sadly taken too soon.
