Huddersfield Daily Examiner

Genuine query turned into comparisons game

-

A REPLY by Mr Charlesworth criticising a recent letter of mine which contained a link to a German newspaper made very little sense.

He made no comment regarding the content of the article whatsoever.

I emailed the Examiner asking if the article was a newsworthy piece, in essence I was hoping the Examiner would do a piece on it. I didn’t write it as a Feedback inclusion.

However, unbeknownst to me, it was included and like a moth to a flame or a fish to a lure we managed to get an unintentional bite in the shape and form of Mr Charlesworth, lucky me I hear you all say. Personally I wouldn’t go that far as it isn’t much of a challenge.

There are stories and opinions from people living in Europe which we rarely hear or read about. People from Europe face the same challenges as the UK regarding Covid-19 but probably attack their problems from different directions using different methods. Were they successful or did they encounter setbacks? It seems Germany encountered similar problems to ourselves and this was the crux of the article.

But sadly Mr Charlesworth turned it into a numbers and comparisons game, when all I was looking to do was show that Germany’s usual efficiency was lacking as they encountered the same problems as ourselves. And failed just as we did at times.

Mission’s outside help?

MR WOOLLEY (Feedback, March 18) reminds us of the tragic total deaths to date during these dark times.

However, would any review which aims to identify responsibility have to identify numerous organisational groupings and their changing month-by-month circumstances, not least communications by email, letter, website, and word of mouth?

Since this country is apparently a ‘rogue state,’ who would arrange, supervise, and audit this extensive mission, perhaps senior politicians from France or Germany?

MP late to the party

BARRY Sheerman has emerged from his sleep to ask for a concerted effort to encourage people to have the Covid vaccine.

Wow! I thought he might announce what he is doing for

Huddersfield, though I’m not surprised by his latest publicity stunt.

Where is he making his call from, Huddersfield or London?

My advice to Barry is, ‘You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.’ There has been plenty of publicity to encourage doubters to have the vaccine, but as usual, Bazza is late again.
