Town’s ‘wise’ MP Barry Sheerman should stick to what he is good at

-

IS Mr Sheerman an Agrochems chemist? He calls on Syngenta to cease in its manufacture of Paraquat on the say so of a ‘whistleblower.’

“I have taken the view that this particular product should cease to be produced”.

Oh, you have, have you? Mr Sheerman states: “Alternatives should be produced instead.” And what alternatives are those, Mr Sheerman?

Mr Sheerman, you need to stick to what you are good at, and if you give the public a clue, we could be as wise as yourself. Do you truly believe that Syngenta would reduce the amount of emetic in their products? I worked in this industry for many, many years and large companies such as Syngenta take people’s safety as a priority.

Paraquat is banned in the UK and Europe but is still used in many other parts of the world. Why, you may ask, well it is up to individual countries to answer that question. America is still an importer of paraquat for crop protection.

Agrochemical manufacture is big business. As the world population carries on growing and crop production needs to increase, so do the parasites and weeds. Protection of crops is paramount if you wish to keep the yield high. This is where chemical control is used, sometimes symbiosis is used as chemical control is not always the way forwards. Getting back to Mr Sheerman, he states a workforce of 400 at Syngenta, Huddersfield. Well Mr Sheerman, plant employment ran into the thousands, as did many of our other manufacturing companies around Huddersfield.

Where have you been, but more to the point what have you been doing, these past 40 plus years?

Go home and come back when you have an answer to Huddersfield’s problems, don’t make them worse.

What about nurseries?

BARRY Sheerman supports a Cafe on top of Castle Hill and a cable car to the top. But yet not a word on the issue of the reopening of the Bradley Parks Nurseries.

So we could ask - does Barry support the reopening of the

Bradley Parks Nurseries?

Remoaners on a loser

A MESSAGE to the unhappy Remoaners who can’t get a grasp on reality. The majority of people who took part in the Brexit vote chose to leave, this is a fact. Because the vote was a close one, there was an election to give the Remoaners a chance to prove their point.

Unfortunately for them, the rotten uneducated Brexiteers won the day by a vast majority, that’s another fact.

So unless you can come up with some ideas to make people listen to your pleas, you’re on a loser.

Oh, by the way, besmirching people in high places does not appear to be working.
