Town boss waiting on duo’s injury updates

-

CARLOS Corberan is awaiting late fitness decisions on Spanish duo Pipa and Alex Vallejo ahead of tonight’s visit to Norwich.

Both players left Saturday’s draw with Brentford prematurely due to injury.

Midfielder Vallejo had a clash of heads with the Bees’ Christian Norgaard barely a minute into the contest. Despite continuing until the midway point of the first half, Vallejo was subbed after he sank back to the turf clutching his head.

As for Pipa, he suffered a groin-related concern that saw him depart the action just before the hour mark.

Corberan said yesterday: “I need to await the medical confirmation, as they are both being checked right now.

“Both players are a doubt. I cannot think they are going to be available or not. Both are with the doctors and before training, I will find out if they can play.”

Regarding Vallejo, Corberan added: “He received the knock in the back (of the head). I waited for the doctors to see whether he could continue playing or not.

“The doctor managed the situation with Alex. After he thought he was not well to play, the doctor allowed me to change him and we always have to follow the protocol of the doctors.”

While the Town boss continues to monitor Pipa and Vallejo, he remains without a clutch of first-teamers.

The most notable include Josh Koroma and recent arrival Oumar Niasse.

On Koroma, Corberan said: “He’s continuing to follow his specific plan.

“We hope he continues to do that well and that we can see him back with the team.”

The club are awaiting the results of a scan on Niasse’s groin injury.
