Corberan calls for a clean break after big defeat

CARLOS CORBERAN has called on his team to “clean the image” after their 7-0 hammering at the hands of Norwich – by recording a crucial victory over Rotherham today.

Town sit 19th in the Championship, seven points clear of the third-bottom Millers – but today’s opponents have three games in hand.

Three points would put vital distance between the Terriers and the relegation zone at the business end of the season – with the margin of Tuesday’s defeat at Carrow Road leaving fans looking anxiously down the table.

Corberan said: “Tomorrow is an opportunity for my team to clean the image. It’s impossible for us to forget the Norwich result.

“The positive thing is that we have a game where we can try and change our image from Tuesday.

“The players need to erase that image. Against Rotherham, it’s very important to get the three points.

“Everyone in this league is competitive in different ways.

Their style is direct and usually with two strikers.

“They try to get an advantage from aerial set-pieces and they are a dangerous team.

“We need to compete. We are in a battle to keep the team in the Championship. I will be fighting for this until we get to that target.”

Runaway leaders Norwich are bound for the Premier League, so Tuesday’s defeat was no surprise. But still, the manner was worrying.

Reflecting on the game, Corberan said: “The only moment in the game that we balanced with them was in set-pieces.

“But all the other moments, we didn’t solve the action that we had to solve.

“In the pressing, they were better than us. In attacking, they were better than us. In attack we didn’t show anything we wanted to show. We didn’t show our identity as we know we can. It was clear we didn’t perform.

“I prefer to not have many days between a bad result and the next game. The faster it happens the better it is for the mind, body and everything.

“We can now change the image we gave.”
