Heritage railway back in steam
HUDDERSFIELD people are flocking to pubs and restaurants in their droves with one manager saying at least 10 of our best-known eateries are fully booked this weekend.
With the glorious sunny weather set to continue over the next few days managers are bracing themselves for floods of customers anxious to share a few drinks and a meal with friends and families.
A spokesman for Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop in Netherton which operates The Rusty Bull dining experience said it had been extremely busy since the government allowed pubs and restaurants with an outdoor area to reopen.
He said: “It’s been absolutely bonkers! Fortunately, we have space for people to feel secure, we are fully covered and we have eight heaters to keep
NORTH Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) has announced that its heritage line will be back in motion this Spring, with stations opening from Saturday May 15th.
NYMR will operate two trains to Whitby every day, as well as an intermediate service between Pickering and Grosmont.
Covid-19 mitigations will be in place until the summer holidays, with customers pre-booking end-to-end services with a set departure and return time.
The intermediate service between Pickering and Grosmont will allow passengers to hop-on and hop-off to explore Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont stations.
Chris Price, General Manager, said: “It was a huge relief when the government announced its roadmap, which now enables the railway to plan and prepare for when it can re-open.
“It will be great to see the staff and volunteers preparing the engines, stations, shops and tea rooms, ready to welcome passengers once more.”
Passengers will also be able to enjoy the railway’s brand new toilets. Last month NYMR announced that their trains would no longer dump toilet waste onto tracks after the £1m loo revamp.
Anyone who had previously pre-booked for 2020 will be able to re-book from April 19th.
The railway’s letting accommodation at Grosmont, Goathland and Levisham will re-open from May 15th.
