Manager set up spy camera in bathroom

-

A pervert sales manager who installed a covert camera to spy on a young woman in her bathroom has avoided an immediate spell behind bars.

tony Wood, from Barnsley, hid a small camera in an extractor fan.

the 45-year-old’s offending came to light in October 2018 when police were tipped off by his ex-wife when their son kept receiving inappropriate messages on his mobile phone.

Sheffield Crown Court heard Wood’s son’s phone shared the same log-in information.

police attended his victim’s address and found the extractor fan had been broken and a camera was hidden inside.

When detectives quizzed Wood about the hidden camera, he initially denied having any involvement until they showed him a picture of him looking up at it with his phone in his hand to adjust the angle.

A Samsung mobile phone and an iphone 6 plus were seized and, upon examination, police found more than 70 photos of his victim completely naked or with a towel on.

His victim described herself as being “physically sick” and “violated”.

Wood, supported by his wife, admitted a single charge of voyeurism and was handed a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

He must also carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days.

Wood, of Worsbrough Dale, Barnsley, was also made the subject of a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and will be on the sex offenders’ register for the same amount of time.
