Get it done, says vaccine pensioner

-

A PENSIONER has issued a strong message to anti-vaxxers saying: “Stop being so stupid and get it done.”

Straight-talking Robin Crowther, 77, from Holmewood, Bradford, spoke out as he was given his second dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19.

Mr Crowther was leaving Rimmington’s Pharmacy in Bridge Street in the city centre which has just passed the 7,000 jab milestone since it opened a vaccination centre in a marquee in January.

The city’s oldest chemist has been vaccinating between 200 and 300 people per day and its owners claim that ‘vaccine hesitancy’ among the older population appears to be on the wane.

In the month that the Rimmington’s Pharmacy vaccination clinic opened, it was revealed that Bradford has a higher rate of vaccine hesitancy than the UK as a whole.

A survey revealed that misinformation and fake news had a serious impact on people’s lives, creating a lack of trust which had led to some people being hesitant or fearful of vaccines.

Mr Crowther was with his grandson Aaron, 30, and the pair agreed that rejecting the offer of a vaccine was just silly.

“Have it done because if you get covid it could kill you. Don’t be stupid,” said Mr Crowther Senior.

Aaron said it’s time for people to stop believing conspiracy theories and to put their trust in medical professionals.

“I have seen some of the conspiracy theories and if people fall for them they are stupid.”

John Szczambura, 65, from Clayton, Bradford, has already had both jabs and said it’s vital everyone gets vaccinated “so we can get back to normal”.
