TV farm family star in own take on Muker run

-

OUR Yorkshire Farm continues this evening, this time focusing on a new sheepdog puppy and the Muker Show the family were gutted to miss.

The family attend the show every year but due to the pandemic, it was cancelled in 2020, the time of filming.

The show itself is a traditional agriculture show held in September in Muker Village, but it’s not the main pull for the Owen family.

The star attraction is the fell racing.

For those not quite initiated in country life, fell running isn’t for the faint of heart.

It’s commonly referred to as hill running and is a traditional British sport. It takes place off road and has to be over a significant gradient.

Runners don’t particularly have to be fast, but instead trained for unpredictable weather and rough terrain – something the Owens family are experts in.

The sport began in the north of England, namely in the Lake District and it appears to be a sport the Yorkshire Farm stars love.

Miles Owen, the third eldest on the farm, behind elder brother Reuben and sister Raven, has won the junior fell race twice, winning £20 each time.

For 2020’s race on September 2, he was hoping to win a third time – with even mum Amanda training too.

She told her followers she had practised the race last year, running it the night before to see if she could complete it.

For 2020, she had planned to run it for real and for the ladies’ race, £75 can be won, along with a trophy.

However, the Owen family are never ones to be put off, and so in this week’s episode viewers will get to watch the Yorkshire Farm’s own edition.

Previous Muker Show episodes of Our Yorkshire Farm have been among the most popular, so the Owen family’s own take is bound to be a success.

Clive and Amanda have set the race to go across three miles of Ravenseat’s toughest moorland.
