ENOUGH IS ENOUGH The Super League MUST be stopped: P29

- By RICKY CHARLESWORTH

JUNINHO BACUNA has been clocking up the miles for Town, according to manager Carlos Corberan.

The Curacao international divides opinion among Terriers fans, often within the course of a single game – such as Saturday’s

2-0 win at Nottingham Forest, where

Bacuna put in a poor performance but capped it with a stunning strike to seal the three points.

It was his fifth strike of the season and it confirmed a deserved victory that means Town are eight points clear of third-bottom Rotherham United.

“I think in the last few weeks he’s putting in a lot of effort,” Corberan told Yorkshire Live when asked directly about the Curacao international’s recent form.

“I can tell you because always I’m watching the players’ GPS numbers.

“The GPS never tells you about how players perform from a football point of view, but it does tell you about how they are competing and what they’re putting into the games.

“I’ve noticed in the last few weeks that he’s having more impact in both defence and attack and this is pleasing for me to see.”

Bacuna will be hoping to play a crucial role in tomorrow’s visit of Barnsley as Town look to put to bed any lingering relegation doubts.

Earlier in the campaign, Corberan highlighted Bacuna’s penchant for a speculative goal.

He said: “We knew before we arrived here he had scored five or six goals last season, some of them very very nice goals, and we know the quality he can have to score goals and help the team in this part of this pitch.”
