WEDDING couples left high and dry after the abrupt closures of two Huddersfield hotels are being offered a lifeline by one of the largest venues in the area.
There was dismay last week when The Examiner revealed the country house hotel, Durker Roods in Meltham appeared to have closed and worse was to follow when Crow Hill Weddings of Marsden announced it had also ceased trading with immediate effect following the “negative impacts of the pandemic” - and Brexit.
Wayne Topley, managing director of Cedar Court Hotels Yorkshire, which has a hotel at Ainley Top, said: “We were truly saddened to hear that two more venues (Durker Roods Hotel and Crow Hill Weddings) have been impacted by the coronavirus in the locality of our Huddersfield property.
“The last year has been disastrous for so many in our industry and our hearts really do go out to those affected.
“We genuinely want to help any brides and grooms who have woken up to this stressful news that their wedding plans have been brought to a sudden halt – so please do come and talk to us.
“Last year when we heard of another unfortunate venue closure in the area, (The Old Golfhouse, Outlane), we immediately offered support where we could to those affected and we have been able to help salvage the special days of several couples.
“This year, we’d again like to offer the same support to anyone affected: we are willing to do what we can to accommodate couples and we are even offering to again assist in covering some of the cost of any lost deposits, up to the value of 50%.
“We have the flexibility to honour your booked packages and perhaps most importantly, we have a truly stunning space for you to enjoy your day in our newly refurbished Yorkshire Suite.
“For obvious reasons, we only have limited availability left now for 2021 but we are willing to work with you to turn this challenge into a positive.”
