Rebel snipper slams Amazon hair salon plan
REBEL hairdresser Sinead Quinn has blasted Amazon’s plans to open a salon and says it will ‘ruin’ her industry.
The controversial West Yorkshire snipper, who amassed thousands of pounds of fines after failing to shut up shop during Covid lockdowns, took to Instagram to criticise the online retailing giant following the announcement of its first hair salon in London.
She posted a screen shot of the Amazon Hair Salon from @ behindthechair_com in an angry social media spat.
Sinead captioned the “Another industry about ruined by the big dogs.”
Amazon announced the new hair salon on Tuesday. It comes as the
post: to be e-commerce giant continues to explore new lines of business and promote some of the items it sells on its platform.
The Amazon Salon is said to be taking its first bookings from the public in “the coming weeks”.
The Bradford hairdresser, who owns Quinn Blakey Hairdressing, currently owes Kirklees Council nearly £20,000 in Covid fines for previously failing to shut up shop while running a “non-essential business”.
In January, she threatened to stage a ‘Great Opening,’ but arrived at her Oakenshaw salon to find police – and the press – waiting for her.
Ms Quinn is yet to pay a single penny of the fines issued – despite raising half of what she owes using a GoFundMe page that she set up in November last year.
She said that the reason for setting up the GoFundMe appeal was so that “people don’t take it upon themselves to create a GoFundMe on my behalf”, adding that she does not think Kirklees Council will be successful in “extorting” money from her.
