No new injury worries for duo

-

HUDDERSFIELD Town full-back duo Pipa and Harry Toffolo have not suffered any new injuries, despite the pair missing out on the matchday squad for Wednesday’s home defeat to Barnsley.

Pipa has been playing through a groin issue for some weeks and also sat out both of Town’s last two midweek matches: the 7-0 defeat away to Norwich and the 2-1 loss at Bournemouth.

Toffolo had not played since February because of a back injury before making a surprise return to

David Winner makes the at-first slightly absurd but surprisingly compelling argument that national obsession is a result of the Netherlands’ curious geography, where space is it such a premium that vast stretches of land have had to be reclaimed from the sea through sheer engineering ingenuity.

Whatever the case, that kind of calmness and vision is something Town have lacked this season, with only Alex Vallejo coming anywhere close to an in-form Eiting’s ability to pick out a pass that nobody else would even see, let alone consider, let alone have the technique to pull off successfully.

He is not perfect, of course, and there have been times this season when he has looked like he has expected to have half a second more on the ball than he the Terriers line-up for Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest having only returned to full training the previous day.

Town are having to carefully manage the minutes of both players as a result of those fitness concerns, as much as a frustration as it must be for all concerned given that Town’s safety from relegation has not quite been ensured yet.

It is hoped is ever likely to get in the Championship. In his defence, that was understandable in the first half a dozen or so games he played while he got to grips with a more non-stop division than he was used to, and Carlos Corberan has suggested his dip in form before his knee op was in fact part of the reason they decided the surgery was best for him in the first place.

But the fact Town have struggled so much without him and the sight of him back on the pitch doing his thing only underlines how important it is they either retain or directly replace him and Vallejo for next season.

The Terriers midfield has no shortage of hard graft, but there are inevitably moments in games when you need quality to go on top of that. that both players will be available to return to action when

Town visit Blackburn Rovers tomorrow, with head coach Carlos Corberan explaining both were simply unable to take part in a second game in the space of five days.
