THE BEST OF BRITISH?

-

McLaren has published stunning performance figures for its Artura supercar which is launched later this year.

How does 0-62mph in 3.0sec and a top speed of 205mph strike you? Sounds like the Artura is going to be a stunning piece of all-British engineering.

It’ll be powered by the company’s all-new 3.0-litre

This eye-catching machine, right, is the MG Cyberster concept. It’s an all-electric sports car the Chinese company will be showing next week at the Shanghai motor show. Of course the car is purely a concept but it does reveal the direction of the company’s designers and also a desire to one day build an MG sports car.

The brains behind the Cyberster are all based at SAIC’s (MG’s parent company) design centre in London where 40 designers are employed.

The Cyberster has a maximum range of 500 miles and features an interactive gaming cockpit and 5G connectivity.

Premium car maker DS Automobiles is making a bold move. It’s a well-known fact it’s really difficult to sell a big French saloon in the UK.

They’ve all tried it, from Renault to Citroen to Peugeot, but all failed to have the sales success of German brands.

This DS9 saloon could change things. The car is 4.93m long and the emphasis is on comfort, with the long wheelbase providing plenty of rear legroom.

Several powertrains will be offered including two E-Tense PHEV systems – one with an engine producing 225bhp and driving via an eight-speed automatic gearbox through the front wheels, and another with 360bhp driving through all four wheels. A maximum electriconly range of 33 miles is promised. It’s ready to order with prices starting at £40,615.

 ?? ?? twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 585PS and which is 190mm shorter and 50kg lighter than the current 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.
Inside the bellhousing, between this engine and the eight-speed transmission, is a 95PS electric motor that can give up to 18 miles of electric-only driving.
The transmission is more compact, thanks to reverse gear being removed, with going backwards taken care of by the electric motor.
