Vallejo set to return to face City

CARLOS Corberan is hopeful he may be able to welcome Alex Vallejo and Isaac Mbenza back tomorrow’s game against Coventry City.

The Huddersfield Town boss has not been able to select midfielder Vallejo since he went off with a concussion against Brentford on April 3, but he has been back in partial training this week and could play a part at the John Smith’s Stadium depending on how he does in today’s training session.

Winger Mbenza and striker Fraizer Campbell are in a similar boat with their groin and shoulder injuries respectively.

But Corberan admits he would be surprised if Campbell were able to return unless he is able to make some remarkable fitness breakthrough.

The forward was taken off shortly before the break away to Nottingham Forest on April 17 after landing awkwardly following a tackle.

Josh Koroma played up front with Yaya Sanogo in Campbell’s absence against Barnsley last Wednesday but moved out to the wing against Blackburn on Saturday, with Danny Ward in the middle of a front three and Juninho Bacuna taking up the other flank.

Corberan hinted he will choose between Sanogo, Ward or the two as a pair up front against Coventry.

Town also continue to keep a close eye on full-back pair Pipa and Harry Toffolo, with both still on individual training programmes.

Pipa has been playing through the pain of a groin strain over the past few weeks and found his minutes limited – he did not play in either of Town’s last two midweek games.

Toffolo was out for more than two months with a back injury before returning against Forest but was unable to play against Barnsley before returning for the 5-2 defeat at Blackburn.

COVENTRY City will come to the John Smith’s Stadium tomorrow afternoon for Huddersfield Town’s last home game of a disappointing season.
