This club is going in right direction, insists Toffolo
HARRY Toffolo has passed his verdict on Huddersfield Town’s season, and his thoughts on the future for the club under Carlos Corberan.
The Terriers have secured their Championship status for next season - but it’s been far from an easy ride for them.
Having been in a relatively strong position in mid-table at the turn of the year, it’s been a slog for Town in 2021, with just three wins seeing them being dragged into the relegation scrap.
But Toffolo believes they’ve done as much as they could have this season.
“It’s been a long season, and after the huge success we had coming up to Christmas, the amount of points we picked up was excellent, and we wanted to replicate that into the New Year,” said the defender.
“With injuries coming in it’s a very easy excuse. I’m not one for making excuses ever, I like to stand up and be accountable for everything we do.
“But we haven’t been dealt a good hand, and I think we’ve made the best of the situation we’re in.
“Yes, we could have picked up more points here and there, but as a team we’ve put ourselves in this position.
“I didn’t expect us to be in this position at Christmas, but that’s just the way football works.
“If you come off the gas and stop picking up three points, then that’s what happens.
“As a team, we’re fully committed and want to finish on our own terms. I know it’s been frustrating in the last four or five months, it has been for the players as well, and we are honestly doing everything we can to put things right, and put the club in the right direction.”
On the club’s future heading into the summer, Toffolo added: “It’s very easy. You can sit here and be a yes man to the situation and say what the fans want to hear.
