Why are voters ignoring Johnson’s many flaws?

-

HERE’S what I don’t understand; a fundamentally dishonest man becomes PM and while demonstrating how unsuited he is for the job by enriching his friends and lying in parliament, he receives a ringing endorsement from an electorate.

Why?

We have the highest death rate of any developed country in Europe as a result of a weak and incompetent wobbly government and the deepest recession from which we just might emerge quickly unless there is another lockdown.

How does that translate to such a massive election victory?

I’m sure that a complicit BBC and a right wing press managed to reduce the impact of the transgressions committed by the Tories and persuaded the public that they were doing a good job

And don’t forget the Americans voted for Donald Trump and historically a sophisticated and enlightened nation actually voted for Adolf Hitler.

This result shows that you can fool all the people all the time.

Mysterious 7%

PHEW, now we have had confirmation, yet again, that a detailed breakdown of COVID-19 cases is freely available online, the rest of us can turn our attention to other matters of importance. Namely, the great scone controversy.

Denis Kilcommons reports that 51% of Britons pronounce it to rhyme with gone whereas 42% pronounce it to rhyme with tone. With my own view being that the former was the posh way and the latter was the Yorkshire way, I am of course firmly of the latter.

However, surely the most obvious question has to be, how on earth do the remaining 7% pronounce it?

The final word?

MR Charlesworth you weren’t “suckered in” as you so eloquently put it by Mr Schofield and his original Feedback letter

Your reply to his article was incorrect and your reply rude, but as usual you wanted the last word.
