Doro banned for betting breach
WARRINGTON second-rower Eribe Doro won’t be facing Huddersfield Giants on Monday after being handed a one-month suspension having been found guilty of breaching the Rugby Football League’s betting and related activity code of conduct.
The 20-year-old, who made his senior debut for the Wolves in a win over Castleford last September, is banned from having any involvement in rugby league until May 27.
Doro’s sanction reflects mitigating circumstances in his case and, while there was no rules represents an offence.
A statement on the RFL’s website said: “An RFL operational rules tribunal has suspended Warrington Wolves’ Eribe Doro for two months, with one month suspended.
“Doro was found to have breached the RFL’s ‘betting and related activity code of conduct’. Doro will have no involvement in rugby league until his suspension ends on 27 May.”
■■OLIVER Gildart will leave Wigan Warriors at the end of the season to sign an NRL deal with Wests Tigers, according to reports.
Gildart is said to have informed his team-mates yesterday morning of his decision to leave and take up a deal with the Tigers, who have also signed Warriors half-back Jackson Hastings for the 2022 season.
Gildart’s decision to depart is not a major surprise. The Great Britain international has never shied away from disclosing his desire to play in the NRL and employed an Australian-based agent to take control of his future last year.
