OUTSPOKEN Bradford hairdresser Sinead Quinn has wasted more than 50 hours of Kirklees Council resources over the course of the pandemic.

The rebel business owner, who owns Quinn Blakey Hairdressing in Oakenshaw, Bradford, faces £17,000 in unpaid court costs after repeatedly infringing coronavirus laws over the past year.

She has flagrantly ignored scientific advice throughout the Covid19 pandemic, keeping her salon open when it was against the law and boasting about not wearing any personal protective equipment (PPE).

And her lockdown-defying behaviour has put a big strain on Kirklees Council resources.

Details from a Freedom of Information request submitted by The Examiner reveal how officers from the local authority spent 51 hours and 55 minutes at the salon between March 2020 and midApril 2021.

The visits, conducted on 26 separate occasions, often took officers away from other vital duties for several hours.

In one instance, three council officers had to make a trip to Quinn Blakey salon, taking the trio of local authority employees away from tackling other issues for an hour and 45 minutes each.

On a separate visit, two council officers were stationed at the salon for three-and-a-half hours each.

In total, 34 council officers have visited Quinn Blakey Hairdressing and spent more than two days at the salon.

The visits include travel time to and from the premises.

West Yorkshire Police have also been sent to the salon a number of times, although they were not able to provide detailed information for each visit.

Ms Quinn faces a hearing at Kirklees Magistrates Court on August 13. The court date was set after Ms Quinn was handed four coronavirus fines in November 2020, totalling £17,000.

A spokesperson for Kirklees Council said: “As of May 7, 2021, none of the fixed penalty notices have been paid.”

The local authority has previously branded her actions as ‘selfish and irresponsible.’
