Josh injury really hurt us - Carlos
TERRIERS boss Carlos Corberan has pinpointed the three key injuries that most held back his side this season.
The Huddersfield Town head coach reflected on a difficult campaign for his side, explaining that he felt the squad was unable to adapt to the loss of various important players to injury from December onwards.
Top scorer Josh Koroma’s hamstring injury in December meant he missed four months of the season, leaving Town short on other options on the wing - especially as January signing Rolando Aarons picked up an injury in February.
Town then had a brief resurgence in their performances in March but endured a dreadful April that included the 7-0 defeat to Norwich City, a poor showing in a very lucky goalless draw against Rotherham United and a 5-2 loss at Blackburn Rovers.
Looking back on the season, Corberan said: “The injury that for me most affected the performance of the team was the Josh Koroma injury because until that moment he had a lot of importance.
“He was one of the players in the first XI and he was one of the players taking responsibility for scoring goals for the team.
“As soon as you start to lose players you start to look for adaptations to see if the team can continue playing the same way and, if they can, which players can be adapted to play in the same style with the same ideas.
“I think until Rolando Aarons arrived we didn’t find exactly the perfect way because Lewis O’Brien and Juninho Bacuna played some minutes

in that position and we were trying to find the best player to play in that position - even Isaac Mbenza was there too.
“With the incorporation of Rolando Aarons into the club we went straight to work with him even though he’d arrived at the club off a little bit of time without football, without playing games.
“He made a lot of effort to be in the first XI and to compete, but unfortunately three or four weeks after he arrived we had the injury and at that moment it was a key injury.
