Terriers have bankers for a loan move in January

- By DAVID HARTRICK @examinerHTAFC

HUDDERSFIELD Town now have the depth they desperately needed in their squad and can afford to send some players who require firstteam football for various reasons out on loan.

We thought we’d look at some possible options to offer out...

IT’S just not worked has it? There were some encouraging quotes around in pre-season and a squad number allocated, but here we are, 11 games in, with Jonathon Hogg, Lewis O’Brien, Scott High, Duane Holmes and Alex Vallejo ahead of him in midfield and no obvious formation that accommodates a No.10.

This is not really a loan to come back ready, more a loan with a potential option to buy from somewhere if a permanent move can’t be found. It’s a shame, but there really is no way back from here.

WE ARE looking forward to Rowe coming back, he was a lot of fun last season and has a good future ahead we think. There’s a model here, though, and it might be worth considering a loan option for the same reason one was taken for Rarmani Edmonds-Green.

Town’s wing-back options are stacked and two – Harry Toffolo and Sorba Thomas – are un-droppable. Behind them are Josh Ruffels and a returning Pipa, and Ollie Turton is in the mix. Even Levi Colwill filled in as a left-back when called upon against Fulham.

Rowe’s talent is undeniable, but circumstances are against him as they were when Edmonds-Green missed pre-season because of Covid.

A loan might help get match fitness, experience and football. Town will take him back, though – he’s a big part of their next generation, we would wager.

IT WAS great to see the winger give an interview to the club’s YouTube channel recently and look happy. His ‘I’m alive!’ tweet proved he was aware things have not gone to plan.

There are reasons to be excited about Grant. The issue is Town fans have not seen any of them.

Injury and Covid have spoilt his time with the club to date but better days are ahead, we hope.

A loan makes a lot of sense, he needs football, currently there is a balance in the first team which is tough to upset.

Don’t give up on Grant, he might not have much of a job this season in truth but he’s worth sticking with.
