Boss sweats over fitness of Town duo for Saturday
CARLOS Corberan will have to wait on the fitness of Jonathan Hogg and Duane Holmes after both were taken off with injuries on Tuesday night.
“He (Hogg) asked to come off as he was feeling something in his thigh that didn’t allow him to continue in the game,” Corberan said of his captain’s injury. “As soon as Hoggy is not there we need to manage the situation with the players that we have.”
Hogg was removed at halftime and Scott High played the second half in his absence. With a trip to Cardiff on Saturday before the international break, Town’s head coach will be waiting for an assessment on the midfielder who was making his 400th career appearance last night.
Duane Holmes was also taken off shortly after the Terriers had opened the scoring.
“Holmes felt a pull in his ankle after a movement and asked to be subbed as he couldn’t continue,” said Corberan of a player who has forced his way back into the first team and found his best form since returning to the club over the last month.
With a very quick turnaround before Saturday’s game in Cardiff, Town’s medical staff will assess each injury and hope both are available.
“I need to see how both players are and what the doctors feel,” Corberan replied when asked if they could play on Saturday, “I don’t think Holmes’ is an important one, but I don’t know about Hoggy – when it is a muscle you need to have a more specific exploration by the medical staff.”
Town’s 1-1 draw with Peterborough United on Tuesday night kept them in fifth place in the Championship table.
HUDDERSFIELD Town were left disappointed after a decent performance at the Weston Homes Stadium that just about deserved more than a single point.
Danny Ward’s opener was cancelled out by Peterborough’s Jonson Clarke-Harris’ late header.
It felt like two points dropped in the end, so here are a few talking points from the game.
There was a lot of positive from the performance so we may as well do the big negative early and we can
When he plays well, Town play well. We’ve noticed there is a game plan for other teams against him this season – kick him when he gets into a run. He is Town’s most fouled
Ward is playing well, Carlos Corberan certainly thinks so as he tells us in every press conference we do with him. We agree too, the last six
