Terriers quartet are real loan stars

- By DAVID HARTRICK

THERE are several Huddersfield Town youngsters out on loan at various levels.

With Carlos Corberan’s squad being bolstered during the summer, the Terriers sent a few first-team fringe players out in order to gain match experience.

Here, the Examiner takes a look at how some of them have been doing...

DALY has really come into his own recently and looked far more comfortable with first-team football.

He has really pushed on and the attacking midfielder is impressing. In November alone so far he has scored the matchwinner against Everton Under-21s in the Papa John’s Trophy and provided two assists, one a quite brilliant run, in their drawn FA Cup game against Wycombe.

He’s Hartlepool’s top scorer in all competitions and the Hartlepool Mail described him as the club’s “most influential attacking threat.” His manager is impressed too, saying: “He’s growing into a key player for us.”

A loan that seems to be doing everything that was required - a run in a first team, the chance taken to show his ability and a player proving he’s going to come back to his parent club and push for a squad place as a minimum. Lovely stuff. decent goal it was too against Cheltenham, and provided an excellent assist in the thumping 5-1 home win over Sunderland. Town’s decent progress to date has been built on defensive solidity. Naby Sarr’s contract expires this summer and Levi Colwill will return to Chelsea. The Terriers might have an answer to a couple of questions before looking to recruit this summer.

LIKE Edmonds-Green, Town’s other young central defender has been impressing. A first-team regular, comments on social media have been universally popular about his progress.

Swindon have started the season well and sit fifth in League Two. Crichlow has been a huge part of that and made 18 appearances already. He picked up a knock that saw him miss the weekend’s FA Cup tie but he is back in training and should be in contention within the next two weeks.

Crichlow’s progress has been good this season and again this loan is proving worthwhile as he’s growing from game to game. Swindon have used him as the defender to break the lines on more than one occasion and he’s proved he can carry the ball and pick a pass when required.

PHILLIPS has played a lot this season - with 19 he has more appearances than any other Town player out on loan.

He’s also had somewhat of a conversion from central striker to playing right (and left on occasion) of a three. He’s scored four goals, including an eye-catching run and finish 28 seconds into a game against Salford. He’s doing well and importantly his body is standing up to playing every week.
