Taylor made up with life at Terriers

HUDDERSFIELD Town Under-17s goalkeeper Sam Taylor has enjoyed his start to life with the Terriers after his summer move to the club.

Taylor made the switch to West Yorkshire from Middlesbrough as part of Town’s heavy academy recruitment drive for their Under-17s side.

In an interview with htafc. com, he discussed the improvements he has seen in his game since his arrival, which has enabled him to train with some of the club’s first team.

He said: “I have improved in lots of different ways, in every aspect.

“My shot stopping has improved, and my distribution is better in the time that I have been here.

“My main focus was to improve my shot stopping because that’s the main thing last year that I really needed to work on to get better as a goalkeeper.

“Overall, that is my most important job, so that’s what I have been working on in my individual sessions.

“Playing at Huddersfield is very different compared to Middlesbrough.

“I’m involved a lot more with the first team keepers and the older age groups, which helps me improve faster than if I was only playing with teams my own age.”

Given the structure of Town’s academy, Taylor still has plenty of years in the bank to aid his development as a goalkeeper.

The 17-year-old is hopeful that he can continue improving as a player in order to start pushing his way into the club’s Under-19s side.

He said: “My aim for this season is just to play as many games as I can and to get plenty of game time, which I know you can get at this club.

“I eventually want to start progressing into the older age groups and maybe even get a contract.”
