Woodland sealed off after attack on woman

Cancer stars in charity video

DETECTIVES were investigat­ing after a woman was assaulted in woodland.

Gledholt Woods was cordoned off, with police seen in nearby Heaton Road and Heaton Gardens.

The entire woodland area, including a field nearby, was yesterday closed to access and West Yorkshire Police confirmed that it was the site of an assault on Sunday evening.

A woman was assaulted in the woods and was being treated for non-life threatenin­g injuries.

A spokespers­on for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are investigat­ing following a reported assault in Gledholt Woods, off Mark Street, Paddock (on Sunday, 21 November).

“The female victim is being treated for nonlife-threatenin­g injuries.

“Detectives from Kirklees CID are working to establish what has taken place. Enquiries are in their very early stages.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident. Officers from the local neighbourh­ood policing team are working alongside detectives in supporting the police response to this incident.”

THE voices of celebritie­s who lost their lives to pancreatic cancer, including Alan Rickman and Aretha Franklin, will be used in a new charity video.

An appeal from Pancreatic Cancer UK will hear the voices played with an accompanyi­ng animation to boost awareness of the disease.

The piece will use humour, intrigue and shocking facts to deliver the collective message to educate the public about pancreatic cancer and what they can do to help, the charity said.

Other famous voices include actors Sir John Hurt and Patrick

Swayze and former Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.

The piece comes as part of Pancreatic Awareness Month and the charity said that despite the number of high-profile deaths, little is known about the
