A 16-YEAR-OLD boy suffered a badly broken leg and bloodied face in a brutal mugging by two thugs outside a Tesco store.

The teenager has been left anxious about leaving the house again and will need an operation to fix two fractures on his leg, according to his sister.

The boy, who wishes to remain anonymous, was walking on Long Lane in Dalton, at around 9pm on Friday, towards the Tesco Express when he spotted two teenagers he thought were waiting for him.

Concerned, he continued down the road but one of the boys approached him and asked what he was doing.

He admitted he was worried they had planned to mug him and then the boy asked for the Apple AirPods he had in his ears.

When he refused, the boy called over his friend who punched the 16-yearold.

He tried to run towards the Tesco for help but the boys chased after him and launched a vicious attack.

The victim’s sister said: “My brother ran towards Tesco but the boys caught up with him outside and beat him.

“When my brother was on the floor he was kicked in the face and his nose started pouring with blood. “He has broken the two main bones in his leg and he now needs an operation.

“His face is badly bruised as well.”

The thugs only stopped and ran away when a bystander shouted at them.

The boy was rushed to hospital, where his sister said he ‘will be for a while’ as he recovers.

The two suspects are described as two white males, aged between 15 and 17.

Both were wearing puffa jackets at the time of the attack.

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
