PRYCE BOOST ALEX DELAY
VALLEJO OUT UNTIL DECEMBER AFTER INJURY SETBACK
ALEX Vallejo is set for another three weeks out with a knee injury.
The Huddersfield Town midfielder went off injured in the 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on September 14 having scored his first goal for the club earlier in the game.
It had initially been hoped Vallejo would be able to return to action over the October international break, but he suffered a setback in his recovery and was ruled out for what was expected to be another two weeks.
That recovery period has now been pushed back yet further and the Spaniard is not expected to be available to Carlos Corberan until the middle of December.
Town are short on senior options in central midfield with captain Jonathan Hogg also out for an extended period.
The Terriers captain suffered a knee injury in the opening minutes against Cardiff earlier this month and is expected to miss at least six weeks.
However, Duane Holmes has returned to partial training after having picked up a thigh injury, also against Cardiff.
Holmes missed
Saturday’s 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion as a result but took part in limited training yesterday and will be assessed as to his availability for tomorrow evening’s trip to QPR.
Corberan had previously suggested Saturday’s home game against
Middlesbrough was the more likely return date for Holmes, who has generally played either on the left wing or at No.10 this season, but is capable of playing in central midfield.
Fellow academy graduate Scott High impressed alongside Lewis O’Brien against West Brom, with summer signing Jon Russell coming on for his club debut late on. Josh Ruffels is also capable of playing in the middle if need be.
Corberan has confirmed that centre-back Tom Lees should also be fit to return against QPR after missing the weekend victory through illness.
Pipa and Jordan Rhodes remain longer-term absentees but are doing fitness work in training in the hope of making their comebacks in the next few weeks, while Aaron Rowe is out for an indefinite period with a toe injury.
