Corberan looking for reaction from side after defeats

HUDDERSFIELD Town head coach Carlos Corberan has sent a rallying cry to his players to come back stronger from their disappointing two weeks and show themselves at their best once again.

The Terriers’ exit from the FA Cup at Nottingham Forest’s hands was followed by throwing away a two-goal lead late on at West Brom to draw 2-2 and then back-to-back defeats to Millwall and

Bournemouth.

Those four games without a win have thrown a question mark over Town’s play-off hopes from what had been a strong position in the table, with Corberan’s side now sliding to fourth and losing vital ground on the chasing pack, most of whom have games in hand over Town.

“I think what I have to do now is not to be thinking about the future and what is going to come,” said Corberan after the 3-0 defeat by Bournemouth.

“Today I am more close to the pain of a defeat than the exciting period of games this club is going to play, because we are going to play a tough period of games, no doubt.

“But for me it’s not the moment now to talk about this period of games.

“It’s more a moment to analyse, to reflect, and to stop and find a way how Huddersfield can be more competitive in this period of games that is coming.”

But when then asked if he was confident he could get his side back into form, Corberan perked up, replying: “No doubt, because the players were competing really well.

“The fact we didn’t win in the last two games – or the fact we didn’t show our strengths in the previous two games – doesn’t mean we’re not going to be able to show our strengths.

“This is the challenge, this is life, this is sport.

“This is what we need to do to show that we can go again. In life, if you are not able to beat difficulty you cannot live, you can’t [win], you can’t compete, you can’t do anything.

“I knew when we were in a positive dynamic that sometimes we are going to lose, 100 per cent.

“The key is not the games you lose: the key is how you react to the defeats.”
