Farm brood flock to help shepherdess lamb on Mother’s Day
OUR Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen had a very different Mother’s Day to most and received a very special gift as thanks.
It’ll come as no surprise to fans of the Yorkshire Shepherdess that even on
Mother’s Day she was hard at work on Ravenseat Farm.
Spring has most definitely sprung, with the sun finally shining and temperatures rising – but like all farms, Ravenseat has its own indicator.
Lambing season has begun early for the Owen family and while most mums might have had breakfast in bed, Amanda helped her ewes lamb, along with the help of her own children – all nine of them.
The lambs arriving now aren’t the first with the Owens receiving an early arrival all the way back in January. The shepherdess has told her fans that they aren’t due to start lambing just yet but it seems that the birth of a lamb makes for a lovely Mother Day’s gift.
All the children appeared to be pitching in too, making Amanda’s load a little lighter. Captioning a series of snaps showing them hard at work, Amanda said: “Helping hands on Mothers Day”.
Fans rushed to respond, with @sandra_bestford12 writing: “Looks like you are getting busy and working hard. Happy Mother’s Day, you have such a wonderful family.”
Another added: “How lovely to see the children involved in so much on the farm! Just how it should be.”
Earlier this month the Owen family shared snaps of their living room transformed to a roller skate disco. Amanda, a patron of Ryedale Special Families, shared with fans: “As with most of our undertakings, there was a solid reason as to why the children have been knocking about on wheels.
“We’re on a mission to help get more kids with disabilities and mobility issues about in the Dales.”
