- By TOM COATES @HTAFC

THE business end of the Championship season has been reached but fates are not yet sealed.

Although Fulham appear to be on the verge of clinching automatic promotion, the make-up of the playoffs has yet to be decided and the second automatic slot is also up for grabs.

have taken a look at the promotion betting odds being offered on each side in the top nine by Sky Bet, via Oddschecker.

■■FULHAM - N/A

The Cottagers fell to a shock defeat against Coventry City at the weekend but are still extremely close to securing a return to the Premier League. Their position in the top two is seemed so stable that Sky Bet are not offering odds on them to go up. ■■

Nottingham Forest closed the gap on AFC Bournemouth at the weekend but the Cherries are still being backed to return to the top flight. They have remained firmly in contention throughout the campaign, although were arguably fortunate to avoid defeat at Bramall Lane at the weekend.

■■

Forest have been revived by Steve Cooper, who guided Swansea City to the play-off final last season.

They sit in third and although catching second-placed Bournemouth may prove a step too far, a play-off spot seems likely.

■■

The Blades occupy the final play-off spot but are still being backed for promotion above Huddersfield Town and Luton Town,

AFC BOURNEMOUTH - 1/10 NOTTINGHAM FOREST - 13/8 SHEFFIELD UNITED - 11/4

who are above them in the table.

■■MIDDLESBROUGH - 4/1

Middlesbrough sit in eighth but have a game in hand on the two sides above them, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers. As Blades fans are more than aware of, Chris Wilder sides never know when they are beaten and have been given odds of 4/1 to secure promotion.

■■

The Terriers were not tipped by many to challenge near the top of the table but former Leeds United under-23s boss Carlos Corberan has worked wonders at the John Smith’s Stadium.

■■

Like Huddersfield, Luton have emerged as surprise contenders for a place in the Premier League and promotion would continue their fairytale rise up through the leagues. The Chairboys were playing non-league football as recently a 2014 but have undergone a transformation in recent years and now have top flight football in their sights.

■■

Blackburn are currently just outside the play-offs but only trail Sheffield United by two points.

However, Middlesbrough have a game in hand on Tony Mowbray’s side and are just one point behind, therefore have the opportunity to leapfrog them.

LUTON TOWN - 13/2 BLACKBURN ROVERS - 12/1 ■■MILLWALL - 66/1

The Lions represent a speculative gamble at 66/1 but are only four points away from Sheffield United in sixth.

Millwall completed a 4-1 rout of Barnsley at the weekend, which could be the launching pad for a late play-off charge.
