ALMOST 100 people have already booked tables for the opening of Huddersfield’s hottest ticket – the grand opening of the extension to tapas restaurant Meson La Pepa.

Ersin Altiparmak, 38, and his 35-year-old brother, Mustafa, say the £100,000 refurbishment will create two restaurants in one as the original diner on Wood Street will still operate, while a new one will take pride of place with an entrance from John William Street across the road from Wetherspoon pub, Cherry Tree.

Ersin, who battled through the dark days of the pandemic, said: “We worked so hard since you were in last time and we are done it now I’m really tired also really excited at the same time.

“Finally, we have the grand opening day on Saturday, May 7.

“I really can’t wait to see everyone. We put three months of hard work and endless hours into it and I think the restaurant is now one of a kind – it looks amazing to us.

“As of now, we have almost 100 guests booked already, which is amazing. Also, I’m thrilled by all our guests who supported us many times by visiting us I like to say thank you so much.” Huddersfield town centre is humming at the moment. Mark Robertson, owner of Plumbers Arms, on Macaulay Street, saw hundreds of people turn up for his PlumbFest music festival on Saturday and is looking forward to opening his new bar Florence’s next door shortly. And the bosses of Harvey’s kitchen/diner, Fenay Bridge, are hoping to open a new branch of their successful restaurant at what once was TriBeca on Westgate.
