Youth excels at memorial trial
THE annual Rebbecca Hoare Memorial Trial ran smoothly on Sunday at the Parkwood Offroad Centre.
The 69 competitors enjoyed the bright sunny day as did the huge number of anglers fishing in the lake a few yards from the first and last section. The three rocky climbs were just about bone dry but that changed down in the valley with a few streams to prove slippery.
Huddersfield Falcon inter Will Tolson got round the four laps and ten sections on just eight penalties. Youth excelled on the day with the talented Class A Lancastrian Charlie Cripps taking second place overall and beating some Parkwood regulars.
Just to highlight the Cripps boys, Harry Cripps won Class B youth and his father Andy retired and spectated.
The Horsforth course plotters were dead on target for Clubman A where Steven Fowler and Jake Walker got round on two dabs and they were in the Over 50’s and Novice classes. Three Falcon club members topped the class with Thomas Jackson just a dab down on the top two. Matthew Morrell has been turning in some good rides lately so a Clubman B victory was on the cards and got his Beta home on three penalties.
Only five small wheelers arrived and vanished into the woods. Tate Croft won the hard route while Bradford’s Emily Petty was supreme in the yellow route. Tom Mitchell and Alfie Dykes were even on 14 on the white route ahead of Emma Mitchell.
