SAY GOODBYE TO THE iPOD

It’s now 21 years since Apple introduced the first iPod – the little white box that could hold “a thousand songs in your pocket”.

Since the iPhone came along and muscled into the music space, the iPod has very much taken a back seat and it can be hard to remember what a phenomenally successful product it was.

That’s why it came as no surprise when Apple announced this week that it is officially discontinuing the last-ever iPod – the iPod Touch.

There is still some stock left,

Apple says, but if you want a slice of history before it’s gone you’d better move fast.

PHOTOSHOP UPDATES

Adobe has released an impressive new update to Photoshop for iPad. It’s added features and improved the overall experience, to the point where we now have a very slick powerful image editor that takes full advantage of the touchscreen environment.

This week’s update added the ability to select and refine small details in a portrait photo in one click; quickly and accurately remove any photo’s background, and easily take any selection to quickly fill its contents based on its surroundings with Content-Aware Fill. Adobe also updated its social graphics app Adobe Express to add post scheduling, and its iPad drawing and painting app Fresco to add a Liquify tool and colour selections.

Its collection of mobile apps is beginning to expand into something that can rival its desktop world.

NEW FEATURES FOR WHATSAPP

Meta has followed up on last month’s reveal of a Communities tab for its WhatsApp service with yet more new features.

Communities allows organisations to bring different groups of users together into one space to share information across any and all of the groups within. It’s aimed at simplifying collaborative communications for organisations with many departments.

WhatsApp has also upped the size limits on shareable attachments from 100MB to 2GB, while the number of people you can have in a group is now up to 512 you can have up to 32 people on a call.

It will make the service a lot more useful for a lot more people.
