WALKING BRITAIN’S LOST RAILWAYS, Channel 5, 9pm

-

WHETHER you’re a fan of stunning British scenery, a bit of a railway geek, or appreciate a dishy and enthusiastic presenter, this new series will have something for you.

Engineer slash adventurer Rob Bell (pictured) is exploring the country’s unused historic railway lines – some of them unused in decades.

And he’s starting in Scotland along the old route from Elgin to Portsoy, which served the fishing and whisky industries so vital to the local communities.

While in some of the places Rob explores the lack of transport and industry has left behind a bit of a ghost town, in others former train stations have been turned into beautiful homes and heritage railways have sprung up.

Rob’s not actually just walking, he’s also climbing and scrambling and, er, kayaking as well.

The last one might seem a bit of a stretch away from the title, but it helps provide the most incredible views.
