A MAN has spoken out after a gang smashed his 95-year-old neighbour’s window and left her terrified in her own home.

Pete Wood caught the moment the gang attacked his elderly female neighbour’s front window with stones on his CCTV system.

Mr Wood, of Grange Road, east Hull, has also had a window on his own vehicle smashed and says his elderly neighbour has been left scared.

The incident, which happened on the evening of October 21, has been reported to Humberside Police.

Mr Wood, 56, who lives with his wife, Pat, and son, only realised what had happened the next morning at about 8.30am.

He says the group of youths, which he thinks range from about seven years old to 12 years old and was made up of three boys and a girl, threw stones at his car, his son’s car and his neighbour’s window.

Mr Wood said his neighbour believed someone was breaking in at the time and said she had been left terrified.

“He gets right up to the fence and puts the window through,” he says, referring to the CCTV footage.

“She is 95 and lives by herself. She was terrified. She thought someone was breaking in.

“When I went round in the morning, she told me how terrified she was.

“She thought she was getting broken into. She has sat there all night wondering what was going on. She is 95 years old, she does not need people throwing stones at her windows.

“I’m really annoyed.”

Posting the CCTV footage on Facebook, Mrs Wood wrote: “Found some more clearer footage.

“Does anyone know who these kids are as they have put my car window through and have smashed the 95-year-old lady’s window next door.

“Also throwing stones at other cars that’s in the same area. Hoping someone knows who they are. This happened outside my house in Grange Road. Please note police have been notified.”

Mr Wood believes the same group were responsible for chucking eggs recently, too.

The latest incident meant Mr Wood has had to pay £50 excess and is still waiting for his car to be repaired, which he says is a disability car, and is having to use a replacement car for the time, which has been provided by his insurance.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “We were called after a white Ford Kuga was damaged in Grange Road, Hull, during the night of Sunday, October 21.

“If you have any information you believe could assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting incident number 16/110878/ 18.”
