It’s toy-rrific news for Hull’s Princes Quay

INSIDE HUGE NEW TOY SHOP

A NEW toy shop opened in Hull city centre on Saturday – and it is one of the biggest the city has to offer.

Toytown in Princes Quay shopping centre sells children’s toys, including Lego and action figures, as well as nursery products like prams and high chairs.

The new store rivals Hamley’s, the centre’s other toy shop, although Toytown will take up a much bigger space.

Located between Quiz and Dorothy Perkins in Princes Quay’s second level, the “one-stop-shop” sells a “full range” of toys with more than enough space for families to explore.

Alan Simpson, the owner of Toy Town, which is now has 27 different stores across the UK, said it has something for everyone and jumped at the chance to move into the vacant unit.

“It’s a great environment for us to come into. Number one for the size of the unit. Not too many centres have got a unit this size. Your typical toy store, without being derogatory, you could have the finest toy shop in the world and it’s a wardrobe compared to this,” he said.

“There’s a full range of toys, a good Alan Simpson outside the new Toytown in Princes Quay range of nursery products – buggies, cots, high chairs.

“We’ve got Lego, Play Mobil, Hasbro, Mattel, Fisher Price, V-tech – all the key brands.

“When someone walks into a Toytown store they see value and they see the full range.

“We are delighted to be bringing the Toytown brand to Hull. We are renowned for our extensive ranges of Toys and Nursery products, and our competitive pricing.”

The independent retailer has been trading for 40 years having started out in Northern Ireland before spreading into the rest of the UK.

Mr Simpson says they are planning to open up a further three stores across the country during the course of the UK.

Speaking earlier this month, John Magee, centre manager at Princes Quay, said: “Welcoming a major retailer such as Toytown is great news for the centre as we position ourselves as a family friendly retail destination.

“Along with high-street and outlet shops, we have Vue Cinema, a 12-lane bowling alley, soft play, Quasar facilities and delicious eateries, so families really can enjoy a fantastic day out.”
