THIS image shows brave Max Clark taking his first unaided steps since losing a leg after being hit by a motorbike in a horror crash.

Just five weeks and three days after Max, now ten, was forced to have his leg amputated, the courageous youngster began walking using an artificial limb.

These images show his true determination as he tries to walk at home for the first time, and then confidently walks during a physio session.

His proud dad, Paddy, said it reminds him of when he took his first steps as a baby.

“Seeing Max walk for the first time unaided makes me feel so happy”, said Paddy.

“It literally feels like the first time he took steps as a baby all over again.

“Even when he put his leg on himself unaided it made me well up, he’s just smashing it so fast.

“Once he is told or shown what to do he just does it.

Max’s life changed forever when the tragedy happened on Bank Holiday Monday in Rosmead Park, near Southcoates Lane, east Hull.

But Max, a dancer and gymnast, cannot sit still for long and is determined to live life to the full.

“He’s doing really well, getting stronger every day,” Said his mum, Kirsty, 31. “He wants to try new things all the time and is eager to get back to normal.”

“It’s obviously great to see him up and about again, although scary when he pushes himself and we aren’t prepared.

“Last night, he was teaching Mason his old dance routine and even managed a little kick. Molly had her online lesson and Max asked if he was doing his too, not yet.”

It comes just a week after Max turned ten where he enjoyed a lockdown birthday at home with his family.

The family have had their downstairs playroom in their house in Preston adapted into Max’s bedroom so he has everything he needs on one floor.

The family has thanked for everyone who has donated to his son’s recovery fund, which has amassed £13,675.

Jerome Cawkwell, 24, of Cambridge Grove, east Hull, was jailed for three years for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
