Man arrested over historic sex offences

POLICE who knocked on a man’s door after smelling cannabis ended up arresting him in connection with historic sex offences.

Officers from Humberside Police said they went to the house after smelling cannabis.

A tweet put out by an officer from the force said: “Just from the smell of cannabis and then a door knock I managed to ‘lock up’ a wanted male for a historical sexual offence today.”

Humberside Police confirmed a man, aged 47, has been arrested in connection with an investigation into reports of historic sexual offences.

The force says the man has not been named to protect the identities of the victims.

The man has been released on conditional bail, pending further enquiries.
