Life less ordinary

-

BIG drama, huge stars, several massive plotlines and all emerging from one large house in Manchester. From Doctor Foster writer Mike Bartlett, this is not quite a spin-off of the 2015 drama, but it inhabits the same universe, with a couple of returning characters.

Starring heavyweights including Alison Steadman, Peter Davison, Adrian Lester, Rachael Stirling and Victoria Hamilton, this has an epic feel to it.

It follows the residents of one house divided into four flats. And in Love Actually style, as each of the stories unfold, they begin to intertwine in surprising ways, telling a larger picture.

There’s a hell of a lot going on with several different characters and strands, but give it half an episode and you’ll be fully invested.

Steadman and Davison play couple Gail and Henry, who have two grown up kids and are preparing to celebrate Gail’s 70th birthday.

Meanwhile, David (Lester) is happily married to Kelly (Stirling), but a temptation on holiday threatens trouble.

Hannah (Melissa Johns) is heavily y pregnant and in na a relationship with Liam (Joshua James), but still friends with Andy (Calvin Demba), the one-night-stand and father of her child.

And Victoria Hamilton as Belle, inset right, who you’ll recognise as Gemma’s neighbour Anna in Doctor Foster. She has split with husband Neil, moved away and changed her name.

As each tale unfolds, the situations become more tense and fraught. g There is some comedy, but most mostly it’s an emotional saga wit with the occasional feel of a p psychological thriller. Exploring love, loss, the ordinary and the extraordinary, this is set to be the next big addictive drama we’re all talking about.
