Students isolating after Covid case is confirmed
MEMBER OF SIXTH-FORM BUBBLE TESTS POSITIVE
STUDENTS at an East Yorkshire sixth-form college have been forced to isolate after a member of their bubble tested positive for Covid-19.
Having received confirmation of the case, Wolfreton School, in Willerby, wrote to parents on Monday to explain what action would be taken.
In line with Public Health England guidance, the school will remain open to students and staff from outside of the affected bubble.
Part of the letter read: “While this is a time of understandably heightened anxiety for students, parents and staff, our commitment and planning to mitigate the risk to all members of our school community remains our highest priority.
“We have been reassured by Public Health England that your
child’s bubble should continue to attend school and follow the hygiene and other safety precautions we have in place within the school.”
It is the second time the school has been forced to isolate students following an outbreak among the pupil population.
Earlier this month, around 100 Year 11 students were told to quarantine for two weeks after a case was confirmed.
Now, 38 young people in the Year 13 bubble have been asked to selfisolate until Monday, October 12, as a precautionary measure.
The school says parents and students have been provided with advice about “vigilance around symptoms and continued learning in this critical exam year”, as well as stating that a “thorough deep and repeated clean of the associated rooms” would be conducted.
