The rule was brought in after a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, and is likely to still be in place for a number of months.
It makes large Christmas party nights for workplaces and friends and family “impossible”, according to the Bonus Arena.
In an announcement on Facebook, the venue said anyone who has already booked a Christmas party night will have it automatically “postponed” until 2021, and a member of staff will be contacting everyone individually to let them know how this will affect them.
A post on the firm’s Facebook page says: “Unfortunately we have had to take the decision to postpone our planned 2020 Christmas parties at the Bonus Arena.
“The latest government guidance and the rule of six – with possible further action to come – makes it impossible for us to host our Christmas parties in the way in which we intended.
“Our Christmas parties are a real celebration, often large groups of friends or work colleagues, none of whom would be able to sit together under the current guidance. We couldn’t have loud music and dancing would be off limits too.
“We are postponing the 2020 parties to Christmas 2021 and we will be contacting everyone who has booked individually to let them know how this will affect them.
