Kingston make it two from two

-

KINGSTON Hull FC under-15s made it two wins from two with a 3-1 victory at Beverley Town in the Drypool League.

For the opening 15 minutes Beverley had the better of the exchanges but Kingston’s keeper Jake Frederick was outstanding, making several crucial saves which proved vital as the game went on.

Kingston got a foothold with Harvey Ralph’s probing runs down the right wing and Calum Hepworth’s pace up front causing problems.

Despite this they still couldn’t find the net against a team they have never scored against, losing 1-0 and drawing 0-0 in their previous meetings.

On 31 minutes Kingston’s pressure paid off and a training ground move led to Hepworth heading home from two yards out when Ralph’s corner found him at the back post.

Five minutes later Zane Taylor took advantage of a poor clearance to fire the ball past the Beverley keeper into the bottom corner to take Kingston into a 2-0 half-time lead.

Beverley upped their game for the second half and pressured the Kingston defence which almost brought a goal, only for an excellent save from Frederick, who got enough on the ball to send it onto the post with Harrison Mclaughlin first to it to clear the danger.

Beverley’s pressure finally told when a scramble in the box saw them pull a goal back.

With the game in the balance Kingston stepped up another gear and a great move almost ended with Kevin Park scoring.

With nine minutes left Kingston regained their two goal cushion when Hepworth fired in his second from inside the area.

Frederick won the man of the match award with a superb performance in a solid team display.

■Hall Road Rangers under-16s had to settle for a point in a 4-4 draw against Pelican FC on the opening day of the season.

Luke Coulson was the star with a hat-trick, with Jude Sainty grabbing the other Hall Road goal.

Rangers’ Man Of The Match was handed to George Block for his versatility. He was solid in the tackle and showed a cracking range of vision with his passing and came close to scoring from a great strike from a free-kick.
